SUMMER INSTITUTE IN LINGUISTICS
July 21st - August 2nd 2003

If you are a graduate and would like to know what linguistics is all about, or if you would like to catch up with the latest developments in linguistics, this is the opportunity for you!

The two-week Summer Institute in Linguistics (SIIL 2003) is organized by the School of Language Sciences, CIEFL, Hyderabad to enable people to update their knowledge of linguistics in areas, theoretical [phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics] and applied [child language, and computational linguistics] at both the introductory and advanced levels.

Tentative Course Schedule
Monday through Saturday for two weeks:

Since 'Introductory' and 'Advanced' courses titled I and II respectively will run concurrently for two weeks, participants are advised to limit their options to either one of these. Participants are advised to choose one of the two packages:

Level I courses and Language Acquisition for RS 750
OR
Select a course for Rs 250 each from the given timetable.

Food & Accommodation

The participants pay for their accommodation and boarding expenses. The CIEFL may have some rooms in the men's and women's hostels available at this time of the year. On a first-come-first-served basis, we may be able to reserve a few rooms for the participants of SIIL 2003. There are two canteens and a hostel mess on the CIEFL Campus.

Admission to the SIIL is limited to forty participants. So, we will accept only the first forty, fully completed registration applications, which enclose the demand draft for the specified course fee amount.

The application must reach him on or before June 30, 2003. (Professor Vijayakrishnan will be away on vacation in May.) Note that we will close the admissions process once we reach the upper limit of fully completed 40 applications along with the required demand draft. So, hurry up!
