The Present Perfect Tense: A Challenge for
Palestinian EFL Learners

Abstract

The present perfect tense is one of the most challenging English tenses for Palestinian EFL learners. The lack of a counterpart of this tense in Arabic, the interference of L1 into L2 acquisition, the absence of a through methodology that would help learners capture the semantic and pragmatic use of the perfect tense have all contributed to the difficulties facing EFL Palestinian learners when dealing with this tense. This paper aims at introducing a new pedagogical perspective towards facilitating the learning of the present perfect.
