Language Development Strategies in the Era of Globalization: Telugu
National Seminar Proceedings
University of Hyderabad

Editor: Dr. Pammi Pavan Kumar

A Brief Note

The volume presented here is a collection of research papers presented in the National Seminar on Language Development Strategies in the Era of Globalization: Telugu. The National Seminar was conducted by the Department of Telugu, School of Humanities, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad 500 046, Telangana State, India. The research papers discuss issues of globalization and how these affect Telugu language and its use in the age of globalization.

More than any other linguistic community in India, Telugu-speaking community is directly involved in globalization through their leadership in computer software development, etc. In addition, Telugu is the largest spoken non-Hindi language in India with a long history of thousands of years. It is aptly recognized as a leading Classical Language of India.

Fortunately for all of us, Telugu research does not stop with focus on the past history of the people, language and territories, but moves forward as pioneers of scientific developments and globalization. (Kindly note that my mother tongue is not Telugu and I do not live in Andhra Pradesh or Telangana! So, I feel all the more happy to praise the effort of work on Telugu language without any reservation!)

Dr. Pammi Pavan Kumar has skillfully edited the papers and Language in India www.languageinindia.com is very happy to publish this very useful collection of articles.
